The ‘Yes’ vote looks set for a win, so cop that bigotry

With over 11 million forms completed and returned, the results are starting to become apparent in the wake of Australia’s same-sex marriage plebiscite. Thankfully, things are shaping up to be very positive.

A Newspoll has found that 59 percent of eligible Australians have already voted yes, with 38 percent voting no. That means that those old curmudgeons over in the ‘no’ camp would need to win three out of every four remaining votes to come out on top.

File photo: your typical ‘no’ voter.

If the ‘yes’ vote comes through with the goods (and it’s looking pretty bloody likely that it will), the Government will allow a private members bill to go before Parliament on whether same-sex marriage will be legal, in which MPs will have a free vote.

For what it’s worth, ya boi Malcolm Turnbull took some time out from counting his millions to vote yes.

All in all, things are looking pretty, pretty good. Let’s get it done. Don’t fuck this up Australia.
