The Toff offers Japanese math rock, flamenco metal fusion and Spanish language hip hop this October

No matter what the flavour of the music is, The Toff always delivers.

It’s a mixed bag at The Toff this month, which is just how we like it. It’s not just different genres you’ll hear, but different languages altogether. Plus, with a whopping five free shows to look forward to, there’s no excuse not to pop down and check it out.

As the weather gets a little warmer and we all become a little more thirsty for adventure, it’s time to leave those coats at home and hit the dance floor for a sweaty, loud and unhinged night of community. The Toff awaits!

Melbourne locals Malcura are bringing their flamenco rock fusion metal back home for a heavy, genre-blending set at The Toff. With riffs, nylon-string guitars, Latin rhythms and a rock attitude all fused into one, you can expect a show that is full of surprises and demands attention. Fresh off international festival runs, this is your chance to see them close, loud, and uncompromising.

This is the ninth edition of Is That Garage?, a night dedicated to UK garage, speed garage, 2-Step and everything booming and bassy. Formed in a convo at a Let Them Eat Cake afterparty in 2024, the event has grown into a Melbourne staple. Expect a tight lineup for this edition: Dozie, Millhouse, Julian Joseph, dj200 and Garçon carry the groove deep into the night.

Lil Supa & Dann Niggaz – 4H Fest Vol III: Hip-Hop / Habla Hispana

The 4H Fest Vol III will be a banger night for hip-hop and Latin rap heads, merging bilingual flows with boom bap, trap, and urbano influences. With headliner Lil Supa and Dann Niggaz, as well as local support (to be announced) the vibe is bound to be fierce, personal, and full of lyrical heat. It’s the third edition of Australia’s first Spanish-speaking hip-hop festival, so don’t miss out or you’ll be waiting until next year.

4H Fest will be hosting a free entry after party from 11pm post show.

水中スピカ Suichu Spica

The Japanese band 水中スピカ (Suichu Spica) bring their Australian tour to Melbourne at The Toff in Town. Named after the brightest star in Virgo, their sound weaves together post-rock, math rock, shoegaze and J-pop, underpinned by ambient textures and melodic hooks. VIP packages include extras like a 1-on-1 photo, signed poster, and priority entry.

MIJF: Night Crawl at The Toff

Part of the Melbourne International Jazz Festival’s Night Crawl, The Toff hosts a knockout lineup blending soul, jazz-inflected electronica and late-night groove. Live acts include Kee’ahn, Rita Satch, and Grievous Bodily Calm, with DJ SL Tears holding down the dance floor in between sets. It’s one night, 11 venues – but we recommend you kick it off here.

Decadance is making its return to The Toff, bringing a party that’s all about unwinding and letting the music guide you. The night features resident Jack Popper, rising star Nasti Goreng, and Neo The DJ (who’ll drop worldly house with live vocals around 1am), before Jack closes out with deep-house into the early hours. It’ll be a celebration for the senses, full of groove and built for dancefloor connection.

Toff Live Presents: Arabella and the Heist + Star Jock

Arabella and the Heist are bringing their femme-punk fire to The Toff, joined by Star Jock in what’s sure to be a high-voltage night. Arabella and the Heist mix raw guitars, aggressive hooks, and dance-punk sensibility, making them one of Melbourne’s most thrilling live acts, while Star Jock deliver dream pop energy, cathartic release, and synth flair.

Space Jams returns to The Toff for round two, cranking up the dial on soulful electronica, jazz-infused rhythms, and deep-space 808s. Expect a one-room, full-vibe experience — from smoky grooves to experimental floor shakers, with selectors pushing the edges of the electronic spectrum. The lineup includes Vanessa, Error Francis, Gracey T, Ham, and Lex Berlin.

This one’s for the late-night believers. The Sound Of The Underground is a pulse-driven journey into raw, expressive DJ culture, with this edition happening on Halloween. No frills, just pure underground energy, where the DJ takes you somewhere new and the dancefloor answers in kind. It’s all about connection, risk, sweat, and celebrating the intangible something that binds club nights together.
