Post-punk royalty The The blew us away with the recent announcement of a Melbourne Festival performance – the band’s first Melbourne visit in almost 30 years – and it seems they’re set on making the most of the visit, announcing a second show after high demand for the first one.
The The has involved frontman Matt Johnson joined by a whirlwind of rotating members over the years, including the likes of Johnny Marr, Jools Holland and homegrown JG Thirwell. The The’s Aussie stint comes off the back of the band’s recent sold-out London show.
This year marks the band’s first live appearances since 2002, so you’d best not sleep on grabbing tickets or you might be waiting a long time for their next tour.
