The Retreat is throwing a weekend-long festival to celebrate Ausmusic T-Shirt Day

Words by Tom Parker

Everyone who wears an Australian music t-shirt will get a pot of beer on the house.

The legends at The Retreat are doing their bit for Ausmusic T-Shirt Day by throwing a weekend-long festival. As part of the festivities, the venue’s beloved beer garden will come to life with DJ sets across Friday, Saturday and Sunday while a merch market takes place indoors.

It’s no secret the Australian music industry has endured an incredibly tough 2020 – when COVID-19 struck in March, live music came to a complete standstill and artists all across the country lost most if not all of their work.

While The Retreat is back in action when it comes to food and booze, they aren’t in the position to host live music just yet. Nevertheless, to show the music community their support until artists can safely return to the stage, they’re inviting a bunch of their favourite bands and artists to take over the DJ decks.

Those heading along will see the likes of Floodlights, Cool Sounds, Hobsons Bay Coast Guard, Gutter Girls, Bones and Jones, House Deposit and Sunfruits spin some tunes. Other names set to appear include Enola, Kosmetika, Future Suck, Hyphira x RBI and Quality Used Cars.

What’s more, everyone who supports the cause by wearing an Australian music t-shirt or purchases something from the merch market will get a pot of beer on the house. A $5 donation is encouraged on entry, with all funds going to support Support Act.

The Retreat’s Ausmusic T-Shirt Day festival goes down from Friday November 20 to Sunday November 22. Find out more here.
