The panel discussion aiding mental health in the music industry

The issue of mental health in creative industries is the source from which Tony “Jack the Bear” Mantz drew his motivation to begin Mastering Music Mastering Life, the weekly podcast that has grown into a bi-annual event. Hosted by Tony Mantz, with a panel that includes Matt Young (King Parrot), Morgan Leigh Brown (Acolyte), Ryan Hassan (Melbourne Centre of Healing) and Romina Di Benedetto (DJ Agent 86), The Mastering Music, Mastering Life Mental Health Summit will tackle discussions relating to the challenges facing professionals both within the music industry and those in all artistic and creative fields.

The panel will discuss key issues when it comes to maintaining positive mental health with host Mantz explaining, “We hope to put a greater focus on mental health for this event, which in our industry is a major issue facing many people. The discussion will also include a look at substance abuse, addiction issues and general life challenges around work, life and relationships. More importantly, we want to explore and look at practical ways to deal with these topics better.”

With the goal of creating a not-for-profit organisation, all of the planned events will only be seeking a gold coin donation as an entry fee. To further raise funds for the podcast and events, Mantz will also be holding a mastering drive where he will be mastering tracks for a donation with all the money raised going towards the event expenses. They will be kicking off the project at the Croxton Front Bar on the 25th of March. It will be an 18+ event with the exception of under 18s being granted entry if with a parental figure.
