The Night Cat is throwing a livestream party this Friday night

Words by Tom Parker

Party on!

Beloved Melbourne live music and party cauldron The Night Cat has got a surprise in store for all of us. On Friday May 22, the venue will be broadcasting a variety show like none other, bringing together some of the most talented local artists to perform live across your screens.

Titled Islands in the Stream, it comes as the first edition in an ongoing event series set to go down at the Johnston Street party hub and will celebrate the recent launch of The Night Cat’s crowdfunding packages.

Expect to see the likes of Groove City (Live), Amaru Tribe, Cliftonia and Claps perform while Velvet Bloom’s Maddy Herbert will team up with Triple R and Northside Records’ Chris Gill to assume emcee duties. Alongside live sets, the variety show will incorporate artist interviews with those performing, to get a sense of how artists are travelling during lockdown and where they’re at with their music.

The Night Cat has recently launched their crowdfunding packages to keep the much-loved venue afloat during these trying times. The packages on offer include The Golden Ticket, VIP Experience alongside VIP Drink Card options. The first of the three will see the lucky punter gain free entry for them and a mate to any show going down at The Night Cat, including the sold-out events, for one year.

Alongside the package options, The Night Cat will also be taking donations to help artists and the venue see the other side of the coronavirus crisis.

The Night Cat’s Islands in the Stream event goes down on Friday May 22 from 8pm and will be broadcast across Facebook, YouTube and Instagram. Find out more about their crowdfunding packages here.
