Earlier today, ABC Classic Breakfast presenter Dr Megan Burslem kicked off the Classic 100: Feel Good festivities at the Sydney Opera House. Accompanied by the Sydney Philharmonia Choirs and the Nexas Quartet, the live performance marked the official commencement of voting for this year’s countdown. Broadcast live on ABC Classic, the event showcased mesmerising renditions of timeless classics like Singing in the Rain and Somewhere Over the Rainbow, and the much-loved Ave Maria performed by ABC Classic’s resident harpist and presenter, Genevieve Lang with cellist Rachel Scott, setting the stage for an unforgettable Classic 100 countdown.

As announced earlier this year, the Classic 100 in Concert will also make a welcome return in 2024. The Classic 100: Feel Good will be brought to life in a special highlights concert by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Principal Conductor in Residence and the Concert’s Creative Director, Benjamin Northey, at Hamer Hall. Stay tuned for more information including the full program, artists and more, to be announced soon, and find out all details about the event here.

Now in its 23rd year, ABC’s Classic 100 is a treasured event among music lovers. Each year, ABC Classic asks audiences to nominate their favourite pieces in a particular category, counting down the results across an exciting weekend in June.
