“To say this hedonistic cult of the hyper-cool is beyond their musical years is a misstated analogy,” The Messengers’ press release declares, “These beatniks rather, have been encapsulated in a Roy Lichtenstein-ian periodic timepiece and this rock ‘n roll tune may well be the refreshing rejuvenation of a genre loved by first by your fathers.” Many things to enjoy here. While I generally disagree with the use of self-aggrandising superlatives in a presser, I do appreciate the correct use of a hyphen. I’m not sure what the analogy is supposed to be, nor why they bothered misstating it, but I welcome the use of Roy Lichtenstein’s full name, since without ‘Roy’ the name ‘Lichtenstein’ is utterly meaningless. (May be refreshing, they wrote, may be. Honestly.)
