The brainchild of playwright Andy Harmsen and director Alan Chambers, the pair aim to make the kind of theatre that the two artists like to see. The Martyrs is a black comedy about Australian super churches and their unlikely bedfellow, internet pornography. Not merely social commentary for its own sake, Sly Rat Theatre aims to bring writers back to the theatre to let them observe and dissect the things around them.
