Melbourne post punk band The Maggie Pills are pulling together a benefit gig at the Bergy Bandroom this October.
Melbourne post punk outfit The Maggie Pills have rounded up four more local acts for a one-night fundraiser at the Bergy Bandroom, with every cent going to families hit by the June earthquakes in Venezuela.
The night sees The Maggie Pills share a stage with four fellow local outfits – The Stripp, Kristol Pisstol, Wavedrive and Fireroots – all donating their time to raise money for people affected by the earthquakes that struck Venezuela on 24 June.

For some of the musicians on the bill, the disaster hits close to home, which is where the idea for the show started. The twin quakes toppled thousands of buildings and left more than 5,300 people dead, with tens of thousands still unaccounted for and huge numbers of families now without a roof.
Every dollar from the door is being passed to survivors and their families through Mates Without Borders, with tickets on sale now via Oztix.
The Maggie Pills have carved out a spot in Melbourne’s heavy and alternative scene, and they’re bringing that noise to a room built for exactly this kind of night. The Bergy Bandroom has long been one of Brunswick’s go-to spaces for loud, sweaty local shows.
International aid poured into Venezuela in the immediate aftermath, though attention has drifted as the months have passed. Rebuilding is tipped to stretch well beyond this year, so gigs like this keep money moving while the spotlight fades.
