They’re 83 years strong, and they’re one of the most famous and influential jazz/swing bands in the whole goddamn world, backing some of the biggest and best voices in music. Like ever.
Billie Holiday, Bing Crosbie, Nat King Cole, Sarah Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra. The Count Basie Orchestra has played with them all, and their trombonist, Clarence Banks, was hired by Count Basie himself.
