The James Lockwood Trio returns to The Wesley Anne to celebrate the iconic Jazz music of Duke Ellington, Lester Young, Charlie Parker, and the great Swing and Bebop idioms of 1930 to 1955. The James Lockwood Trio combines Lockwood’s deep love for the melodic styles of Lester Young and Charlie Parker with the sonorous timbre of the bowed upright bass in the style of bass pioneers Jimmy Blanton and Slam Stewart.
Joining Lockwood are Australian Jazz stalwarts Catherine Connor (piano) and Marissa Di Marzio (drumkit) in the classic format of piano, upright bass, and drumkit. Each musician brings their love of the Jazz heritage to the fore in a celebration of the spirited melodic invention and dancing rhythms of the Swing and Bebop traditions.
