The Horne Section is the lovechild of Perrier-nominated stand-up Alex Horne, who gained his Grade III certification for French Horn at age 12, and consists of session players from the likes of Madness and Girls Aloud.
Alex and his Magnificent Band welcome various comedians on to improvise a short piece, sing a song or do whatever they please, but backed and, indeed, improved by jazz. The results are unexpected and hilarious. More than comedy, more than music, it’ll be like the Blues Brothers, but more Jazz Cousins. Nice.
The Horne Section perform at The Hi-Fi from April 12 – April 24. It’s at 9.45pm Tuesday – Saturday and 8.45pm Sundays. Tickets are $25 – $31 and available through Ticketmaster online, 1300 660 013 and at the door.
