We’re getting the band together for a special show to launch our new album.
‘Goodbye Nostalgia’, the latest release from The General Assembly, is out now – a shimmering soundtrack for coming home to our place in nature. We’re celebrating with a show at Jolted Arts Theatre this August, performing new songs and old.
ABOUT THE BAND
The General Assembly combines Matt Wicking’s unforgettable voice and poetic songs with layers of instrumental magic from D.A.Calf and Paul Raine.
The band has built a reputation for “spine tingling” live shows, “masterful” recordings, and imaginative lyrics that trace and dissolve the false dividing lines between human and non-human nature.
The song-writing draws from the deep well of folk storytelling, layered with reverb-drenched guitars and swelling synths.
This is the band’s second full-length release. Debut album, Vanishing Point (2017) was variously described as “sublime” and “stunning”. It was a PBS FM ‘Top 10 Feature Album’ plus ‘Album of the Week’ on Blues & Roots Radio.
