The Darebin Songwriters’ Award will award a local songwriter $2,000 and a bunch of music goodies

It’s happening as part of City of Darebin’s spring festival, FUSE.

The annual Darebin Songwriters’ Award is back to recognise, showcase and promote local songwriters, with entries now open.

The competition is open to songwriters of all ages who live, work or study in the City of Darebin. Entrants are also welcome to enter songs in languages other than English, with local Indigenous songwriters particularly encouraged to enter.

The winner will receive an incredible prize package including $2,000 cash courtesy of City of Darebin, eight hours recording time with an engineer at HeadGap, EP Mastering by Crystal Mastering, a $500 Implant Media voucher for CD duplication services, a $500 Echo Tone Guitars voucher and an I Manage My Music masterclass pass.

Past winners include Stella Farnan, Jordie Lane, Ben Mason, Brooke Russell and Charm of Finches.

A judging panel of distinguished local songwriters will select 12 finalists, each of who will receive a one-on-one songwriting mentor session with one of the judges. There will also be a public vote for the People’s Choice Award winner who will take away a cash prize of $500 and an I Manage My Music masterclass pass.

To enter The Darebin Songwriters’ Award, visit the FUSE Darebin website. Entries close 4pm Wednesday July 29.
