The Corner Awards are back for its second year, celebrating all the artists that are working hard to make a name for themselves.
“We love music and the people that make it,” said The Corner. “We know it’s hard starting out, keeping your day job, lugging gear, driving to shows, getting gigs and still finding time to write. So we want to say a big heartfelt thanks.”
The nominees for The Corner Award 2017 include All Our Exes Live in Texas, Cable Ties, Habits, Jade Imagine and Stella Donnelly. A playlist is available of all the nominated artists which you can listen to here. Stay tuned for the shortlist coming soon.
Recipients of the award win a headline show at the Corner Hotel including production and promotion, 150 copies of a 7″ vinyl single, $2,000, rehearsal time at Bakehouse Studios, $1,000 to put towards album artwork, two weeks worth of poster runs, 50 free t-shirts of their design and a full page advertising package from us at Beat.
Sampa the Great received the award in 2016. Sampa notes, “The Corner Award added more to my repertoire because it’s a prestigious new award. It moved me away from [being] just an underground artist, putting me into the realm of a more professional artist.”
