The unapologetic, high energy punk trio have just announced that they're coming to Melbourne as a part of headlining tour of Australia.

Pub-punk shed rockers The Chats are known for their gritty and uncensored songs about Australian culture and life and GET FUCKED is set to continue along that path. Loaded with 13 high-velocity punk tracks, GET FUCKED lyrically covers panic attacks, junkies, prison breaks, the price of darts, surf mafia and being drunk in every pub in Brisbane. Along with the album, the three piece band from the Sunshine Coast have announced a national headlining tour, seeing them perform at Melbourne’s own The Forum on September 16.

“We just thought how funny would it be, if you were a kid seeing it on the album cover,” says vocalist Eamon Sandwith. I remember going to K-Mart and seeing the Green Day ‘Dookie’ CD, and being like, ‘Aw man, this is the craziest album cover I’ve ever seen!’ Imagine being a kid and just seeing a CD that says, ‘Get Fucked’!” Indeed!

Originally set to be recorded in Geelong, pandemic-related border closures saw the main brunt of GET FUCKED’s production taking place at Brisbane’s Hunting Ground facility. This wasn’t the only part of production that was hindered slightly – the album’s opener, ‘6L GTR’, a swinging takedown of a speed-crazed status-symbol driver was supposed to feature a dropdown rap from Van Halen’s ‘Panama’ by David Lee Roth. “Our manager got an email from David Lee Roth’s people that said “NO!” we can’t use it.” Sandwith explains, “what a dog c*nt.” The verse was axed.

They’ll be joined by Mean Jeans for their Australian shows. GET FUCKED will be released on August 19 via Bargain Bin Records.
