The Portfolio Project will consist of four phases, titled passport, suitcase, lounge and flight. ‘Passport’ and ‘Suitcase’ are all about creating your marketing material, a crucial part of gaining exposure as an artist.

These stages include high quality studio photo sets, video recordings of live performances, creation of an electronic press kit with professionally written bios, and workshops to review your social media channels and any existing promotional material you may have.

The rather epic program will also give participants artist memberships for both The Boite and Music Victoria, which will allow you to access Music Victoria members’ workshops and VMDO Links workshops over the coming months.

The next stage ‘Lounge’ will actually get you that publicity you’ve been working for, including smaller showcase events, radio appearances, industry networking and print editorials. Finally, ‘Flight’ will include multi-artist ticketed concerts, celebrating the achievements of the project, with targeted invitations sent to key industry players.

“Programs like this would have meant the world to me as an emerging artist,” Moaning Lisa’s guitarist, Ellen Chan said. “This program will support migrant and diverse musicians in post Covid recovery navigating the music industry.”
