Wanstock 2021 goes down on Saturday July 17.

In March 2020, Wanstock enjoyed its third instalment, welcoming the likes of Ted Mulry Gang, Get Rocked, Kings of Oz, City Sharps and more to the Shoppingtown Hotel stage.

A lot has changed since those pre-COVID days, and while Wanstock has endured the rigmarole of the pandemic like all other events trying to get off the ground, it’s forging ahead for 2021, preparing a fantastic lineup in the process.

What you need to know

  • Wanstock returns for 2021, coming to Shoppingtown Hotel in July
  • The mini-festival will be headlined by The Black Sorrows and Boom Crash Opera

Going down on Saturday July 17 at the Shoppingtown Hotel, Wanstock 2021 will welcome a slew of respected names to the stage, with the equally-esteemed Black Sorrows and Boom Crash Opera heading up the bill. Rounding out the lineup are Wanstock alumni Kings of Oz, Stonetrip and The Day Dreamers.

Behind ARIA Hall of Famer Joe Camilleri, The Black Sorrows are one of Australia’s most prolific and enduringly popular outfits – one that electrify on the stage and off it, delivering joyous and danceable soul, blues and country singalongs. Expect songs from the band’s extensive back catalogue as well as some cuts from Camilleri’s forthcoming 50th album release, Saint Georges Road.

Boom Crash Opera are rock’n’roll icons who first cut their teeth in the mid ’80s and have solidified an enduring legacy in Australian music folklore. Fronted by Dale Ryder, some of the band’s most notable tracks include ‘Onionskin’, ‘Dancing in the Storm’ and ‘Great Wall’.

It all kicks off from 5pm on Saturday July 17, with The Day Dreamers performing the opening set. The Black Sorrows will close the mini-festival, kicking off from 10:50pm and playing late into the night.
