As a popular tourist desintation, the setting of many TV shows, films and books, New York has a fond spot in many of our hearts. But is it bringing us down with its sloppy pizza, stinky subway and an abundance of entrepreneurs, models and movie stars. It’s a place of learning, with world-class museums, the birthplace of hip-hop, not to mention Broadway, bagels and Beyoncé. However, the city is overrun by squirrels.
As part of MEL&NYC, the Wheeler Centre and the Athenaeum Theatre is hosting a night of storytelling from your favourite Melbournians who don’t heart New York. From fantasy, failure and false starts, to horror stories of gridlocked traffic, small apartments and dumpster coffee, join these storytellers for a roasting of the usually celebrated city of NY.
Guests include Sami Shah, Dave Graney, Brodie Lancaster, Sally Seltmann, Beverly Wang, Kate Miller-Heidke, Sarah Krasnostein, Tina Del Twist and Christie Whelan Browne.
