The Beards are back, reforming for an exclusive, limited run of shows in Australian capital cities.

The Beards, the South Australian four-piece who famously perform songs about just one topic, are making their triumphant return to the stage after calling it a day nearly ten years ago. Forming in 2005 on a mission to start a global beard revolution, the band gradually built a large following and became a mainstay of the Australian live music scene.

The Beards will perform four shows across the country in August and September.

Known for their musicianship, distinctive brand of humour, and highly-interactive live shows, The Beards have released four albums of original songs about beards. Throughout their career, they’ve played sold-out tours throughout Europe, Australia, New Zealand and North America, received two ARIA Award nominations, and supported the likes of KISS and Motley Crew.

They’ve also secured a place in Triple J’s Hottest 100 and even performed at the World Beard and Moustache Championships in Alaska before shocking their legions of fans in 2016 when they announced their departure from performing live.

Frontman Johann Beardraven explained the band’s return: “We felt that after writing sixty-three original songs about beards and becoming the most important beard-related band on the planet, we’d said all we had to say on the subject. We figured it was time for us to take a well-earned break and focus on resting on our laurels. But it turns out that over the intervening years, our views on beards have only become more intense, rigid, and dogmatic. Hopefully a small run of gigs in the four closest capital cities to where we currently reside will be enough for us to finally fully articulate just how much we enjoy having beards.”

The tour will also feature a specially-designed dynamic pricing model, offering concert-goers differing prices depending on whether or not they have a beard – with the beardless being charged a higher price. “If it was up to us, people without beards wouldn’t be permitted to attend our shows at all,” said bassist Nathaniel Beard. “So I think it’s only fair that a tariff be imposed on such undesirables.”

Audiences can expect to hear crowd favourites like No Beard No Good, You Should Consider Having Sex with a Bearded Man, and If Your Dad Doesn’t Have a Beard, You’ve Got Two Mums at these shows.

Tickets go on sale 8th April. For more information, head here.
