Through Bangarra’s young artists, Blak captures their experiences, their cultures, and their transition into adulthood. It solidifies the innate connection that these youths hold with Indigenous culture, language and heritage.
This year saw a lucrative success, and recognition for the company with 123 performances over 19 cities, including Sydney and New York. Bangarra Dance received carious awards too, a Helpmann, Arts Hub and Australian Dance award. During NAIDOC week the company was awarded Artist of the Year.
