Donnie Darko is a disturbed adolescent from a semi-functional, upper-middle class family, gifted with a sharp intellect and vivid imagination – but he’s also a bit weird. Increasingly delusional and aided by an imaginary friend, he embarks on an crazed series of actions, which horrify his teachers, scare his parents and amaze his friends.
The stellar ensemble cast includes a young Jake Gyllenhaal, along with Drew Barrymore, Jena Malone and one of the final main performances from Patrick Swayze, capped off with a soundtrack featuring The Church, Joy Divison and Echo and The Bunnymen.
