The 10 acts that make Dashville Skyline an unmissable festival this October

Dashville Skyline
Words by Juliette Salom

Lace up those cowboy boots and dust off your Akubra – Dashville Skyline is back and better than ever before, celebrating their ten-year anniversary with a killer lineup.

Over the October long weekend from Friday October 4 to Sunday October 6, Dashville Skyline are presenting a very special edition of their Cosmic Country Weekender that promises a countryside extravaganza of good music and great times. Held in Dashville on beautiful Wonnarua Country, Hunter Valley, NSW, the team behind the festival are dusting off the spurs and warming up their whips in anticipation of this epic weekend of celebration that only comes around once every ten years.

This family friendly music festival is a must for alternative country music fans and anyone up for a memorable weekend of incredible music. Attendees are invited to camp under the stars and enjoy this epic sprawling bushland venue as they embrace the best folk and alt-country music that this country – and beyond – has to offer.

With options to purchase either single day tickets or full event passes, you can choose how you want to tackle this rodeo. While the event officially opens on the Friday, there’s an option for festivalgoers to head out on Thursday October 3 and set up early, and even catch a couple of acts as they warm up the stage in anticipation for the Friday.

The festival will include over 40 live performances across three stages, as well as activities like a petting zoo, vintage market stalls, a music history exhibition, and – of course – some good ole Western hospitality in American-inspired food and drinks.

10 must-see musicians at Dashville Skyline

Dashville Skyline have also managed to round up a very special herd of performers for their ten-year anniversary. So, saddle up, grab some tickets, and take note of these ten artists to check out at Dashville Skyline this October long weekend.

Ross Wilson & the Peaceniks

Aussie rock’n’roll superstar Ross Wilson and his band the Peaceniks are leading the charge for this year’s Dashville Skyline. Playing hits from the catalogue of his iconic bands Daddy Cool and Mondo Rock, this is one act you can’t miss.

Emma Donovan

There is no force as powerful in the Australian soul and country scene as our very own Emma Donovan. Hers will be the kind of set that will stay with you long after the sun sets over the Dashville horizon.

Rose City Band (US)

Joining us Down Under will be Portland’s very own psychedelic country rock legends Rose City Band. These guys will be bringing a dash of the American west to the Aussie countryside.

Ella Hooper

You might recognise Ella Hooper from one of Australia’s favourite rock outfits Killing Heidi, but it’s the musician’s solo work that you’ll be left stunned by after seeing her set at Dashville Skyline.

Kingswood

Alt-rock icons Kingswood are no strangers to a little Nashville-type of fun. These boys are sure to bring the house down all across the Hunter Valley this October.

Grace Petrie (UK)

A very special British-based edition to the lineup, Grace Petrie is a folk protest singer that has played everywhere from the stages of Glastonbury to, now, the stages of Wonnarua Country.

The Counterfeit

Spaghetti-western music has never sounded so cool. This Melbourne supergroup will be joined by Freya Josephine Hollick, who will also be playing her own solo set at Dashville Skyline.

William Crighton

Folk aficionados will already know his name, but for fans new to William Crighton and his music, this will be a set that you’ll want to be there to witness in all its folky glory.

Uncle Lucius (US)

Another American edition to the lineup, Uncle Lucius brings a slice of Austin, Texas to the hills of the Hunter Valley with their soulful blend of rock, blues and Americana.

Emily Barker

Multi-instrumentalist and legend of Australian country folk music Emily Barker will be lighting up the stage of Dashville Skyline this October. Her beautifully powerful music is sure to light up the crowds too – you’ll just have to be there are witness to it.
