Final chance to catch ALWAYS LIVE Melbourne Vibes as The Teskey Brothers and The Paper Kites close the series today.

Don’t miss the last ALWAYS LIVE Melbourne Vibes performances today with The Teskey Brothers and The Paper Kites.

ALWAYS LIVE Melbourne Vibes wraps up this afternoon with two final free pop-up shows closing out the summer series that’s drawn thousands to Melbourne’s CBD over the past two months.

Paper Kites hit Hardware Lane at 1.30pm before The Teskey Brothers bring it home at Collins Place at 3.30pm – your last chance to catch world-class Australian artists performing unexpectedly across the city’s streets and laneways.

Launched in late November, ALWAYS LIVE Melbourne Vibes delivered 19 free pop-up performances across Melbourne’s CBD, capturing over a million views online as audiences stumbled upon surprise sets from some of the country’s best talent. Australian music icon Jimmy Barnes opened the series alongside Kate Ceberano and Ian Moss, performing to 1,500 people at the recently redeveloped City Square.

Following weeks saw Briggs pop up by Pellegrini’s, Bliss n Eso take over Wesley Place, Cut Copy bring the Yarra to life on Evan Walker Bridge, and Guy Sebastian return to City Square among many others.

Melbourne-born brothers Sam and Josh Teskey lead one of Australia’s most respected live acts, celebrated worldwide for soul-infused rock, folk and blues across iconic stages. Returning to Melbourne streets, Josh Teskey noted the band started their music journey busking as teenagers, making this Sunday afternoon hometown performance particularly special. Soul-driven performances and stripped-back power define their work, with their catalogue drawing crowds internationally.

Paper Kites deliver the penultimate performance at Hardware Lane. Known for gentle, emotionally resonant songwriting, the band built a devoted global following through intimacy, warmth and enduring appeal. Their catalogue balances delicate arrangements with emotional weight, creating moments that linger beyond the final note.

ALWAYS LIVE CEO Psyche Payne highlighted how the series demonstrated live music’s indisputable joy and its centrality to Melbourne’s cultural life. Bringing people together through unexpected performances delivered something special across the summer. Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Steve Dimopoulos emphasised Melbourne’s position as Australia’s cultural capital, noting live music doesn’t just create unforgettable moments – it powers the local economy.

Two months of weekend performances demonstrated demand exists for accessible, high-calibre live music in public spaces. CBD activation through cultural programming brings economic benefits while reinforcing Melbourne’s identity as a city where music happens anywhere, anytime. Today marks your final opportunity to experience this before the series wraps for summer.
