Tassie’s Party In The Apocalypse festival announces new dates

Tasmania's brand new Party In The Apocalypse festival is now bringing a huge Aussie lineup to Launceston on December 27 and 28.

Party In The Apocalypse, the new COVIDSafe brainchild of Vibestown, the team behind the much-loved Party In The Paddock (PITP) festival, has just officially moved its dates for this year’s festival to ensure they can go ahead in providing a thumping, cathartic end to a maniacal year.

Originally slated for December 3 and 4, festival organisers have officially moved its dates to December 27 and 28, citing a raft of changes to Tassie’s operations as the reason.

“Since we launched PITA, a LOT has changed in Tassie including border opening dates, G2G passes tightening their restrictions on artists and now an announcement of potential big changes coming for festivals and their current restrictions after the 15th of December (for the better),” festival organisers said in a statement.

“We were left with no choice but to move, but for those who can make the new dates, we see this as a huge positive and it’s certainly going to be one to remember!

“Additionally to the above, we’ve been listening to you, our audience, and have had to be really honest with ourselves – the whole team here at Vibestown are DONE with the outdated restrictions currently in place for large scale events here in Tassie, they don’t align with the rest of the country and it’s high time that they changed. We are stoked to hear the news that some restrictions may ease. We are now awaiting more information THIS WEEK to confirm exactly what this means for our new dates, but we are very hopeful that it will be good news for us all. This coupled with the variety of issues that arose with our original dates, including the potential loss of headline acts because of new rule changes to G2G working exemptions – it became obvious that we had no choice but to move dates. But we are pumped to be now going ahead over the holiday season and can’t wait to send off 2021 with you!”

The move, from the first weekend of December to after Christmas has a positive spin, looking to fill that void that Falls and other events have left.  While hopeful for a NYE event, the team have come as close as possible on these perfectly placed public holidays.

Bringing some of the country’s best live acts to the state for one of the biggest lineups to hit Tassie since COVID began, the festival’s first lineup announce included the likes of Lime Cordiale headlining alongside rock legends Dune Rats, the angelic sounds of Cub Sport complimenting indie-pop festival sensations San Cisco, as well as Methyl Ethel, Ruby Fields, Sycco, King Stingray, Sly Withers, Teenage Joans and Noah Dillion, among others.

In some good news, the festival has revealed it’s looking like there will be minimal changes to the line-up, alongside a potentially pretty solid inclusion.

PITA has paused ticket sales, but they will be back on sale on November 22, along with the announcement of new additions to the line-up. For those who are unable to make the new dates, refunds will be available from Oztix from November 22.
