Tame Impala’s Cameron Avery is back and getting personal at Brunswick Ballroom

Cameron Avery
words by Frankie Anderson-Byrne

Cameron Avery is back in Australia, and he's bringing something raw, stripped-back and worth your evening.

Best known as the bassist for Tame Impala, Cameron Avery has also built a name for himself through his work with POND and as the frontman and songwriter behind The Growl. Now, more than seven years since his last official release, Avery is stepping back into the spotlight with new single Speed Dealer; and a live show that sounds nothing like what came before.

Where his debut album leaned into lush, layered soundscapes, this new chapter strips things right back.

Shaped by years of one-off shows in New York clubs and lounge rooms, and recorded live in his hometown of Fremantle, the music feels lived-in, honest, and unpolished in the best possible way. Cameron Avery has spent the last few years quietly doing what artists do best; playing to small rooms, finding the truth in a song, and letting the audience in on something real.
