What’s the band name and what do you ‘do’ in the band? Our name is Major Leagues. I play rhythm guitar and sing. I also write half the songs.
What do you reckon people will say you sound like? We used to get compared to Best Coast a lot. We’ve also had comparisons to Alvvays, Breeders and other ’90s bands.
What do you love about playing music? Getting to travel around and be onstage with my best friends. And writing new songs.
What do you hate about the music industry? I hate the music industry’s inequality and exclusivity. I also don’t like the monopoly that triple j have on defining whether you are a successful or unsuccessful band in Australia.
If you could travel back in time and show one of your musical heroes your stuff, who would it be
and why? I’d show Elliott Smith. Not because I think he’d enjoy it, just so I could get some songwriting tips.
What can a punter expect from your live show? Awkward banter and some bopping around with my guitar from me. Bad jokes but good dancing and harmonies from Vlada. Lots of shredding and angelic vocals by Jaimee, and some sick tricks with the sticks by Jakey.
What’ve you got to sell CD-wise? We’ve got our fresh new album on vinyl, but no CDs this time.
