Stonnington’s Sunset Sounds serves up a stellar line-up of music royalty live in January 2024.
Over two weekends in January, Stonnington’s stunning parks and gardens will be host to Sunset Sounds, a series of outdoor concerts promoting liveability and wellbeing. The free, inclusive and accessible concerts will provide the community with high calibre entertainment featuring a curated collection of Australia’s best emerging and established musical talent.
The first concert will be held on Sunday 14 January at Central Park in Malvern East. Headlining acts include JAZZPARTY, an eight-piece powerhouse delivering jump blues, RnB and forgotten Jazz music with fervour. The five-piece ensemble Squid Nebula will be supporting to deliver cosmic groove and psychedelic disco. Fronted by hypnotic soul artist and proud Noongar woman Bumpy, Squid Nebula comprises of members from all corners of Naarm’s music community. PBS DJ Lyndelle Wilkinson will be the MC and on the decks throughout the night.
The gig at Victoria Gardens in Prahran will take place on Sunday 21 January, with headlining acts from Mama Kin Spender, an ARIA-nominated duo for Best Blues and Roots Album. This collaboration combines drums, percussion and blistering guitar with lightning arrangement underpinned by harmonies that shimmer and smoulder. Melbourne-based artist Danika will be supporting with her delicate blend of folk, soul and jazz influences. PBS DJ Elle Young is on decks and MC for the night.
Residents and visitors are invited to bring a picnic or enjoy some refreshments from some of Melbourne’s best food trucks.
