Eagle’s rise has been pretty wild to watch. Bedroom tracks turned into breakout singles 17 Again and A.O.K (which scored an ARIA nomination), before he linked up with Hilltop Hoods on their ARIA-winning banger Clark Griswold. His triple j Like A Version take on Ocean Alley’s Confidence showed serious vocal chops, all building towards debut EP MAMA. Expect soulful vibes and genuine stage presence when he hits Logan Reserve.

Brass lovers are in for a treat with Horns of Leroy, who’ve been tearing it up since 2013. These Melbourne cats channel pure New Orleans energy mixed with local street grit, and their live shows are genuinely infectious. Big horn sections, tighter-than-tight playing, and the kind of energy that gets people off their picnic blankets.

Rounding things out are Hobsons Bay Coast Guard, playing their own backyard. The local crew have been steadily building a cult following since 2017, putting out everything from their self-titled debut in 2019 to the experimental Tubular Swells in 2022. Latest offering Weather Report spans 14 tracks of surf rock, punk and straight-up weirdness, proving they’re not afraid to get creative. Anyone who’s caught them live knows they bring the fun.

Logan Reserve is perfect for this kind of thing; right on the beach, heaps of space to claim your spot, and Pier Street cafes and restaurants nearby if you want to grab food before settling in. Beyond the bands, there’ll be roving entertainment, craft workshops and circus skills for the kids, making it properly family-friendly.

Hobsons Bay City Council’s keeping it free and easy with Summer Sounds, no bookings needed. Just rock up, spread out a blanket, and soak up some quality Australian music while summer’s still hanging around. Logan Reserve’s coastal setting beats a sweaty venue any day, especially when the lineup spans this much ground.

Valentine’s Day sorted then – soul, brass, surf rock and zero entry fee. Not a bad way to close out summer in the bayside suburbs.
