Since 2024, Elliott Eve and Alter Ego’s Photography have collaborated to bring you the iconic Gimp Series.
Built from latex, sweat and skin, the series was created as a dedicated artistic exploration of a community that exists beyond convention. Each image strips away expectation to reveal something raw.
Every frame exists because of Melbourne’s Rubber community. The people who stepped in front of the camera, the hands that helped create each scene, and the community that continues to make space for this work. This project belongs to them as much as it does to us.

SUBSURFACE is a retrospective reflection of two years of creation, and community.
Expect familiar faces, unseen works and new collaborations. DJ sets by Baby Chris, Chutes, Charbinks, House Mum and Wiser.
This isn’t just an exhibition.
It’s a place to reconnect, celebrate what we’ve created together, and disappear beneath the surface for one night.
SUBSURFACE also offers an opportunity to give something back.
Throughout the evening, we’ll be running a raffle in support of the Vixen Crisis Fund, with every dollar raised going directly toward supporting sex workers in times of crisis and financial hardship.
