How did you get your start in comedy? And what keeps you coming back?
“My first gig was through Raw Comedy. After not making it through to the next heat in my ever first gig, I had to keep coming back to get famous enough to be put on the list of Famous People That Didn’t Make It In Raw Comedy when they tell first-timers to not feel bad when they don’t make it through.”
What the hell is your show Comedian? about?
“It’s a story about a guy who was both secretly in love with a girl and wanted to try comedy. So he got went out got drunk and told her both these little gems… bang – he’s in show business!”
Are you looking forward to making Softbelly Bar your home for your shows?
“I’m actually just going to go back to my apartment to sleep after the shows… If you want to organise a sleepover one night, I’ll quiz the management.”
What inspired your podcast series ThisMayBeOfInterest?
“I had recordings of all these interviews I’ve done for various magazines and the Internet still had some space left on it… it seemed obvious. All the interviews just got reposted to steelesaunders.com and on iTunes last weekend: Just search ‘Steele Saunders’ and it should pop up. There are also episodes with Tony Hawk and Shaun Micallef among others.”
What do you love most about MICF?
“Oh the reviews! Like the one that described me as two things I’ve never been described as before… ‘Wacky’ and ‘Steve’.”
