Brunswick's Stay Gold is kicking off the year with a proper love letter to local music.
The venue has announced the Stay Gold Summer Slam, a two-night free entry event showcasing six of Melbourne’s finest rock, punk and indie acts across 22 and 23 January.
The Stay Gold Summer Slam splits its lineup across two evenings, each promising a distinct flavour of Melbourne’s underground scene. Thursday brings Darwin-transplant Stevie Jean, whose rock-meets-hip-hop sound has earned her a loyal following since her 2021 debut album The Dark. Joining her are east-side pop-punk outfit Tiny Red Houses and noise-rock four-piece Queen Hyena, known for their chaotic blend of grunge, shoegaze and psychedelia.

Friday shifts gears with punk trio Heterophobes bringing their DIY energy to the stage, alongside Fellview and Blackbird rounding out the weekend. Both nights come with Coopers specials, so your wallet gets a break on drinks as well as the door.
Stay Gold has built a reputation as one of Brunswick’s most reliable spots for catching emerging talent before they blow up. The Sydney Road venue’s festival-level production and intimate 400-capacity room make it an ideal setting for discovering new favourites without fighting through arena crowds.
The Summer Slam continues the venue’s tradition of championing local artists while keeping things accessible. With no cover charge and cheap drinks, there’s really no excuse not to swing by and see what Melbourne’s underground has cooking this summer.
