STATHIS//DAVEY//KIM EP Launch – LITHO (Eternal Music Projects)

Naarm/Melbourne-based analogue synth and composer trio STATHIS//DAVEY//KIM launch LITHO, the first instalment of their forthcoming double EP LITHO/IONO.

Recorded between Naarm/Melbourne and Banff, Canada in 2025, LITHO/IONO captures two distinct chapters of the trio’s evolving sound. Performing through a 6.1 system designed specifically for the set, STATHIS//DAVEY//KIM will be joined by drummer and collaborator Sumudi Suraweera (Sri Lanka) alongside sets from Nina Buchanan and Héloïse Francesconi (France)

STATHIS//DAVEY//KIM is a Naarm/Melbourne-based collective of three female electroacoustic composers creating immersive works for installation, live performance, and multichannel environments. Working with analogue synthesiser systems, acoustic instruments, and spatial sound, their practice explores the choreography of sound within architectural and environmental contexts, inviting audiences into shared experiences of listening, movement, and place. The trio have presented major works at festivals and venues including MONA FOMA and Now or Never, and were participants at the Banff Soundweavings residency in 2025.

Sumudi Suraweera obtained his PhD in ethnomusicology in 2010 from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. His research focused on Sri Lankan Low-Country traditional drumming. Some of the projects he leads are Baliphonics, Serendib Sorcerers and Musicmatters Transcoastal Collective which draw upon Sri Lankan traditional music, placing it in a contemporary setting. Baliphonics in particular, has recently gained some international exposure with performances in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Earlier this year, Sumudi released his debut solo EP “Low Country Drum Set Solos” as a result of several years of performance practice research into adapting Sri Lankan drumming onto the drum set. His latest project, initiated in partnership with Christian Lorenzen as a Virtual Residencies program from the Goethe Institut is in response to some of the prevailing environmental issues of Sri Lanka.

Nina Buchanan is a musician and composer predominantly working with synthesisers and experimental sonic techniques to explore melody, texture and rhythm. Emerging out of the Eora/Sydney and Naarm/Melbourne underground and experimental music scenes, her work is informed by improvisation and collaboration, scuttling around the edges of ambient, noise, IDM and minimalist musics with a staunchly DIY ethos. She has presented performances and commissions with Phoenix Central Park, Melbourne Recital Centre, Vivid Festival, Liquid Architecture, Speak Percussion, ACCA and Performance Space, and released two EPs and an album, Restless Abandon.

Héloïse Francesconi is a French artist living in Marseille. Nourished by free improvised, experimental, noise and other underground music, she approaches her instruments—modular synth, guitar, electronics, voice, and objects—as unstable, expressive, magic and changing territories. Héloïse studied electroacoustic composition at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional Pierre Cochereau, Nice, where she graduated (DEM) in 2022. She is a guitarist in the noise rock band TORU, a member of the folk/drone duo HEMENE & HEL, and plays in the turntable trio NYET NYET NYET.
