The four stages offer distinctly different experiences, with the Hall of Mirrors transforming the venue’s renowned acoustic auditorium into a reflective wonderland where the sound and view allow you to see yourself anew… or not at all. The Heaps Gay takeover promises underground club sounds where punters can step through the looking glass for a queer party experience.

Those seeking higher energy can head to The Board Room’s rave atmosphere described as red and hectic, while Bar Eden offers funkier beats in a more relaxed setting where attendees can “get their head in the clouds.”

Beyond the music, Sound Escape promises a feast for the senses with City Recital Hall completely reimagined as a surrealist playground. Lighting specialists Mandylights will illuminate the dream-like environment, while stylist collective Never Enough will transform the spaces to create distinct atmospheres for each stage.

Throughout the night, punters can expect special pop-up performances from art stunners The Huxleys and Bendy Ben weaving through the crowds. While the 18+ party rages inside, the outdoor Sound Walk installation will bathe Angel Place in light, creating a free all-ages experience from 5pm-11pm.

City Recital Hall CEO Kate Wickett said, “My instruction to the Sound Escape team was ‘start at epic’! We want this to be the best music event at Vivid Sydney, so from the line-up to the staging, lighting, immersive elements and surprise performances, every element of the night is being designed to blow people’s minds.”

Vivid Sydney Festival Director Gill Minervini added, “Sound Escape and Sound Walk are one-of-a-kind events that can only be brought to life by Vivid Sydney. City Recital Hall is set to be a party playground for those visiting the festival over the King’s Birthday long weekend.”
