St Kilda Latin Festival is creating a vibrant seaside paradise with Latin superstars this February

St Kilda Latin Festival
Words by Staff Writer

St Kilda or Cancun? They're saying its the hottest Latin lineup ever assembled in Australia!

With the likes of legendary Colombian salsa group Grupo Niche (two million albums sold and three Latinos Grammys no less) and Peurto Rican royalty Ñejo El Broco on the lineup, they definitely have a point.

St Kilda Latin Festival will bring world-renowned salsa, Reggaeton, bachata, Spanish rock and more, the best of Latin culture, food and a flowing beer garden to the palm tree-lined splendorous surrounds of South Beach Reserve on the St Kilda foreshore on February 10.

Why Latin music and food are a match made in heaven

Latin music and food are two of the most vibrant and colourful aspects of Latin American culture, an explosion of lively rhythms, passionate lyrics, and the use of traditional instruments such as the guitar, maracas, and bongos meets bold flavours, vibrant colours, and the use of fresh ingredients such as corn, beans, and chilli peppers. Think eating tacos, empanadas, ceviche, and arepas while listening to the sweet sounds of salsa, merengue, and cumbia!

Both are a superb reflection of the region’s rich history and diverse mix of influences, so if you’re not feeling up to a trip this summer, then you can have the real deal right here. The combination of Latin music and food you’ll find at St Kilda Latin Festival (and we’ve barely even mentioned the beer!) is a perfect way to experience the vibrant and colourful culture of Latin America.
