The Espy is doing New Year's Eve the right way, with drinking, dancing and glamour.

In a massive coup for St Kilda’s foreshore festivities, The Espy is throwing down what might be Melbourne’s most stacked New Year’s Eve celebration, featuring a killer lineup across multiple rooms of the historic venue.

The 144-year-old pub, which has seen everything from budding romances to breakthrough gigs within its storied walls, is pulling out all stops with a 3.5-hour drinks package and a who’s who of Melbourne’s underground DJ scene.

Leading the charge is Kelly Tee, known for her signature blend of deep house and techno that’s been lighting up dance floors across the city. She’s joined by scene veteran Tonky, whose recent sets at Revolver and Brown Alley have become the stuff of legend.

The multi-room extravaganza will see rising star Joey P bringing his distinctive disco-tinged selections, while Jason Conti and Johnny H are set to deliver their trademark genre-bending sets that have made them regular fixtures in Melbourne’s late-night institutions.

Underground favourites Ocky and Tbib will be keeping the energy high with their cutting-edge selections, while Benji Pal and Teacha round out the lineup with their crowd-pleasing mix of house and techno.

Beyond the beats, punters can expect a premium drinks package featuring local tap beers, cider, house sparkling, wine, and soft drinks, complemented by roaming canapés and grazing plates (with vegan and gluten-free options available). Early bird tickets are going for $150+bf, with general release at $175+bf.

As the current custodians of The Espy like to say, quoting their predecessors, “As much as you’ve bought The Espy, you’ll never really own it” – and on New Year’s Eve, it truly belongs to everyone ready to farewell 2024 in proper Melbourne style.

From its early days hosting Alfred Felton to its current status as a cultural cornerstone, The Espy continues to write new chapters in its endless story of Melbourne nightlife.
