What do you reckon people say you sound like?
“Circa Survive, Dead Letter Circus and Cog come up a bit, although we don’t sound much like any other band.”
What do you love about making music?
“The freedom to express myself in ways I otherwise don’t feel comfortable. Also, the unspoken dialogue that happens between the characters making the music, it’s a kind of communication that is very honest. There are no lies.”
What do you hate about the music industry?
“Pretention is the first thing that comes to mind. The pretention of musicians, but mainly of music industry types. You know the types – the ones who actually make money from music. From other people’s music. I suppose they’re pretentious because they are successful in what they do, but in doing so they kill a lot of the joy for musicians. Perhaps I’m a bit idealistic?”
If you could travel back in time and show one of your musical heroes your stuff, who would it be and why?
“As clichéd as it may be I would show John Lennon my stuff. He’d be blown away by the sounds, plus I think he’d appreciate the songs underneath the bells and whistles.”
If you could assassinate one person or band from popular music, who would it and why?
“Perhaps I would assassinate Gotye, only because then he would achieve the legendary status he deserves. Although then I would be robbing myself of the pleasure of his future work, so perhaps not.”
What can a punter expect from your live show?
“Five young men smashing out rocking music with loads of energy and passion, and having a damn good time doing it.”
What’ve you got to sell CD-wise?
“Our debut release Singularity, a seven-track alternative rock album-ette that you can sink your teeth in to, but leaves you pleasantly wanting more.”
When’s the gig and who else is playing with you guys?
“The Singularity launch is at The Espy Gershwin Room on Saturday April 23 with The Indigo Children and Crash And Burn.”
