Sound Tracks is back this April, taking visitors on a curated road-trip-slash-music-festival taking place on a fully restored 13-carriage steam train.
Victoria’s music scene will be graced with the return of the unforgettable experience that is SOUND TRACKS, a unique blend of live music and tourism presented by the good humans at OK Motels.
Back for an encore weekend of music, arts, and small-town charm from Friday, April 19 to Sunday, April 21, Victoria’s music festival on a travelling steam train will host thirteen lucky carriages, two big overnighters, and one engine roaring good sorts towards a good time, it’s an event not to be missed.
This return two-night journey from Southern Cross to Rochester, sweeping through Shepparton, Rochester, and Echuca, on a fully restored sleeper train is all about the trip itself. Passengers will overnight in style, enjoying cocktails and canapés, mingling in the Martini Bar, and dancing the night away in the Click Clack Club. As the train pulls up next to the Murray, passengers will have the chance to greet the sunrise in picturesque surroundings.

Sound Tracks offers a weekend away from it all, with no conductors or controllers, just the open track and a loose plan. Travellers will enjoy the sounds of the Sam Boon Trio and Milo Eastwood as they journey to Echuca. After a refuelling stop with a long table brekky on the platform, passengers will head to Rochy for a hometown hero welcome from Watty Thompson and His Total Fire Band. With all four pubs pumping live music back to back, including a performance by legendary Australian band Magic Dirt, it’s set to be a fantastic day out bush.
And when the musical journey is done and dusted, it’s time to whistle and riff-raff back to the big smoke.

Prior to the event, a star-studded lineup of live performances to grace Shepparton’s Star Bowl on Saturday, 6th April to kick off the series. At Shepparton’s Star Bowl, attendees can expect a vibrant lineup featuring jazz, funk, and soul bands like Surprise Chef and Barkaa, accompanied by live DJs and tantalising food offerings by Shepparton Culture Kitchens.
