The Indian festival of Diwali will be celebrated at Hawthorn Arts Centre with a concert featuring highlights from the subcontinent’s classical artforms with a blend of contemporary culture.
The unique family-friendly multicultural Diwali celebration is set to feature the award-winning bansuri virtuoso, Vinod Prasanna, who will perform the classical Indian flute-like instrument alongside talented Melburnian guitarist Jenna Campbell and tabla maestro Pranav Ramji.
The enchanting musical collaboration will welcome to the stage captivating performances by Kathak dancer Sonya Parmat and mesmerizing belly dancer Sarah Moulton.
“I play a soulful interpretation of Indian classical music. The melodies resonate with the essence of Diwali and evoke the spirit of light and joy that encapsulates this important celebration in our culture” says Vinod Prasanna.
To celebrate the spirit of Diwali, a vibrant atmosphere will transform the classical architecture of the hall, with colourful rangoli installations by traditional artists and the warm glow of flickering diyas. The event promises an artistically immersive experience that honours the festival of lights and community connection.
