Some Meredith sideshows just got announced when you weren’t looking

Japanese Breakfast and Downtown Boys just got the Meredith sideshow ball rolling with slots at the Curtin.

Michelle Zauner has slowly been making waves under her indie pop pseudonym Japanese Breakfast, which is musically at odds from her emo band, Little Big League. That doesn’t take away from the competence of Zauner’s work behind a synthesiser nonetheless.

Japanese Breakfast is gracious without being cosy, poignant without being grave. Her 2017 album, Soft Sounds From Another Planet, is stellar literally and figuratively and will be a treat once navigated on the live stage.

Not to mention, The Downtown Boys just drop a headline show too. The American punk rockers are in your face with their strong political onslaughts. To The Downtown Boys, music is a carrier of definition and message and a passage in which a difference can be made.

Frontwoman Victoria Ruiz is known for her charisma on the stage, backed by eclectic instrumental collections with saxophone ventures and buzzsaw guitars.
