Grab your earplugs, because Skyscraper Stan and the Commission Flats are about to record a live album at Bergy Bandroom this weekend.

Skyscraper Stan and the Commission Flats are a fixture of the Australian music scene, with a reputation for putting on lively live shows.

After releasing their 2025 album Those Were Days and spending plenty of time touring it, the band are taking their road-tested set into the recording process, with Bergy Bandroom playing host.

The core five-piece line-up will be joined by a horn section, who’ll play arrangements written by Samuel James Boon, whose credits include Sasquatch and Woohoo Review.

Together, they’ll work through songs from across the band’s three studio albums, so the live record will draw on material from all three.

There are two nights on the schedule, and each one has its own bill. The first, on 10 October, kicks off at 7:30pm with Nasal Spray and Oskar Herbig on the support slots.

The second, on 11 October, starts a little earlier at 6pm, with Norwood and Jess Parker opening the night.

Skyscraper Stan and the Commission Flats will be on stage both nights, which means the recording gets two separate crowds and two different support line-ups.

Anyone planning to head along will be in the room while the album is being captured, rather than hearing it after the fact.

For those weighing up which night to pick, the 10 October show is close to selling out, while the 11 October show is about a third sold.
