Outside may be cold, but the Bergy stage is hot, hot, HOT this month.

You’re walking down Sydney Road. You hear the dull thud of a kick drum and see a warm glow coming through the Bergy windows. You know that no matter what night, the beers will be frosty, the company will be chatty and the stage will be home to some of the finest talent this city has to offer.

The July program keeps things interesting, with a wide range of genres and more debut album release parties than you could shake a stick at. If you’re looking for a new favourite band, you’ll probably find one on the Bergy stage this month.

Nostalgic for the easy-breezy grooves of the ’60s? The Pearlies with take you back there with their time-travelling brand of jangle pop. Expect heartwarming melodies, twangy guitars and enough “ooo”s to get you grooving. They’ll be joined by the high-energy shredders of Man Crave and the ethereal soundscapes of Birdgirl, making for a charming night of tunes.

Jacob Fitzgerald & The Electric City

Are you craving a good ol’ night of rock ‘n’ roll? Jacob Fitzgerald is your guy. Known as one of the nation’s best live acts alongside his band The Electric City, he’s heading to the Bergy to deliver screaming guitars, thunderous drums, catchy hooks and – wait, is at that a little sexy sax we hear? Oh yeah, baby. Expect to hear nostalgic tracks from his recent album Blue Light Blind and much more.

Adelaide-based indie rock trio Oscar The Wild are swinging through to show off their latest EP, Blue. Emerging from a time of change, growth and experimentation for the band, the EP means a lot to the band and they can’t wait to share it. Prepare for a full-throttle night of femme punk. We’re talking sweaty mosh pits, spilled drink and grunge madness. Fresh off supporting IDLES at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl. Laura and the Hell Cutz are hosting a party of their own, and it’s going to get crazy. Joining them will be underground queer icon Terra Rouge, Geelong three-piece Violet and newcomers NoTurns.
