After taking his tunes overseas for the first half of 2017 touring the US and winning over crowds at SXSW, Australian songsmith Josh Cashman has unveiled his latest track Overflow.
“At the time I wrote Overflow I was experiencing a constant whirlwind,” says Cashman. “I was in a confused state of mind. My conscious thought clogged up with thoughts of my job, money, relationships and the judgement of my peers and society on my life choices.
“It took me a while to snap out of it. I was caught up in this way of thinking. Until I eliminated the bleak thoughts, woke up each morning and took a deep breath and got on with it. I figured we, as a collective of individuals, are in the same system trying to figure out our own existence and make a living, and so I chose to act and feel.”
Cashman has been going from strength to strength this year, playing alongside long-time friend Tash Sultana before heading back home to hibernate in the studio. Recorded in Melbourne’s Smooch Studios, Overflow showcases an artist who has hit his stride and is ready to take on the rest of the year with full force.
