Only two weeks until Shine On festival and they’ve already got some surprises in store.

If you thought the line up was great before, now it’s brilliant!

Exciting additions to the international and domestic line up include New Zealand roots/rock and soul group Hikoikoi. With their soaring melodic vocals, African dance beats and sub sonic roots vibrations this band is sure to please.

The three piece group, from Petone on the southern tip of New Zealand’s north island brings in themes from early gospel and roots reggae, mixed with jazz and funk grooves. Paul Wickman, the Hikoikoi lead singer describes their music: "It speaks of respect for each other and the world we share. It’s music for your heart as well as your head."

Performing alongside Hoikoikoi are Australian favourites, Ganga Giri. The quartet’s live performance is a new and primitive celebration combining various musical genres and cultures. Fiery and pulsating, ambient and flowing, you can look forward to a pumping percussive multi-layered experience full of intricate grooves and raw, deep natural sound.

Ganga Giri’s passion unites people in a modern day corroboree. With the rhythmic didgeridoo featuring in their performances, this mirrors the creative inspiration which Australia embodies today.

This is Shine On’s first festival debut, and it’s already looking mightily impressive. Get ready to add it onto your calendar in years to come!
