Share The Spirit Festival Returns For 2014

sharespirit.jpg

Contrary to popular belief, Australia Day is not a pleasant day for Aboriginals. In lieu of inspiring pride and joy, January 26 reminds Indigenous Australians of the harrowing violence and victimisation they have suffered since 1788. Hence: Survival Day, a day that celebrates Aboriginal culture and their resilience.

Presented in associated with Songlines Aboriginal Music, a not-for-profit organisation that supports Indigenous artists, Share The Spirit will feature performances from Crystal Mercy, Illana Atkinson, Chasing Ghosts, Robert Champion, Hip Hop Cypher, Stephen Pigram, and three-piece soul rockers The Deans.

Family friendly (no booze, yo), the festival will include dance programs, a market, food stall and other cultural activities.
