Surging New York stand-up Shane Gillis is coming to Melbourne on an Australian tour and he'll now play two shows at the Athenaeum Theatre in August.
Gillis has garnered worldwide popularity after the success of his first filmed special, Shane Gillis: Live in Austin, in which the US comedian frankly addresses his family’s support of Donald Trump and his sister’s heroin addiction, among other things.
Gillis’ special has racked up over four million views and his down to earth style has become a favourite amongst his peers and comedy fans alike.

The writer for Comedy Central’s Delco Proper and star of Tires Etc, New Muscle and most recently, the YouTube sketch series Gilly & Keeves is heading to Melbourne on August 13, where he’ll play 7pm and 9:30 pm slots at the Athenaeum due to popular demand.
Before shooting the Austin special, Gillis was named an ‘Up Next Comic’ at Comedy Central’s 2019 Clusterfest in San Francisco and a ‘New Face’ at the prestigious Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal.
Winner of Philly’s Funniest at Helium Comedy Festival in 2016, Gillis is one half of Matt and Shane’s Secret Podcast and a regular guest on several popular podcasts. He is also a regular guest of Sirius XM’s The Bonfire and Spotify’s The Joe Rogan Experience.
In addition to the late Melbourne show, he’s also added a second in Sydney at the Factory Theatre on Saturday August 6. He’ll be performing a five-city Australian tour will start in Brisbane on Thursday 4 August, before heading to Sydney, Adelaide, Perth, and Melbourne.
