Words by Staff Writer

Night Crawl returns to Melbourne on Thursday, 24 October, offering a unique night of free live music across eight iconic venues in the CBD as part of Melbourne International Jazz Festival.

Running from 6pm until late, this event allows attendees to experience the best of Melbourne’s jazz and electronic music scenes as they hop between venues within walking distance.

The event promises an eclectic lineup of captivating live acts and top DJs, giving music lovers the chance to create their own adventure. Local DJ and PBS 106.7’s Mystic Brew host Mike Gurrieri co-curates the night, ensuring a mix of Melbourne’s finest talent.

Headlining the night is Uncomfortable Science, who will bring their improvised jam to The Toff. Featuring members of Hiatus Kaiyote—Paul Bender, Perrin Moss, and Simon Mavin—along with Brett Williams (USA) and Laneous, the performance promises to be a standout of the evening. Other highlights include the unorthodox synth genius of Evening News and Steady Weather’s four-on-the-floor sounds at Whitehart Bar. Lani Zimmer will also perform at Whitehart, showcasing a new twist on timeless sounds.

At Wax Music Lounge, attendees can catch future soul artist Tiana Khasi, the rich harmonies of Emma Volard, and Intermood’s gritty rhythms. Meanwhile, HER Rooftop offers an emotional listening experience with Polish-Australian pianist and composer Katarzyna Wiktorski. Over at Fifty-Five, Wrong Way Up channels vintage Afro disco and psychedelic boogie, while funk masters The CB3 take over Workshop.

Alongside these live performances, some of Melbourne’s best DJs will keep the night alive, making Night Crawl an unmissable event for anyone keen to dive into the city’s diverse music scene.
