Following a sold-out debut event in April, Sensible Antixx Records are proud to announce the return of Sensible Serenades, an intimate live music showcase celebrating emerging independent artists and authentic songwriting.
The new instalment of the series will take place on Friday 24 July at Jolt Arts Studios in Northcote, bringing together three exciting rising voices in Australia’s independent music scene: Rhys Thompson, Maxon, and Leo Ercole.
The inaugural Sensible Serenades event reached full capacity at Jolt Arts Studios, establishing the series as a must-attend gathering for lovers of live folk, alternative, indie and singer-songwriter prowess. With a focus on connection, storytelling and raw performance, Sensible Serenades continues to champion artists carving out unique paths within Australia’s evolving music landscape.
Headlining the evening is alt-country and folk artist Rhys Thompson, a rising alt-country and folk artist from Naarm/Melbourne, crafting deeply personal songs that balance raw storytelling with warm Americana charm. Drawing inspiration from artists like Gillian Welch, Kacey Musgraves, Justin Townes Earle and Jason Isbell, Thompson’s music explores love, loss and nostalgia through honest lyricism and reflective melodies. Following the release of his acclaimed debut EP, Calling Me, he continued to build momentum further with recent single Home We Know (Sensible Antixx Records), an intimate track that cements his place as one of Australia’s most exciting emerging voices. Blending heartfelt folk roots with modern alt-country energy, Rhys Thompson is an artist audiences won’t want to miss.
Joining Thompson is the brilliant musical stylings of Maxon, an award-winning singer-songwriter whose music blends folk-rock with a modern pop edge and deeply personal storytelling. Her debut album Talking With Strangers, released in April 2026, explores heartbreak, healing, and the search for unconditional love.
In 2025, Maxon released the standout singles 18 and Everything Is Green, the latter winning the Green Wedge Song Competition and becoming a finalist in the Environmental Music Prize 2025. She has performed on lineups with Tones and I, Ella Hooper, Mick Thomas (and more), building a reputation for powerful live performances that pair raw vulnerability with warmth and joy.
Leo Ercole is a singer-songwriter from the Mornington Peninsula, Melbourne, Victoria. With a passion for heartfelt storytelling and magnetic live performance, Leo has rapidly built a devoted global fanbase both online and on stage. With over 31K followers on TikTok (four videos surpassing 1 million views each), Leo’s digital presence reflects the broad appeal of his music and his natural ability to connect with audiences.
