Section 8 are throwing a mega weekend of free music for their birthday

unnamed-1.jpg

It’s going to be one big, wild, Thursday-to-Monday bender to celebrate Section 8’s 12 years on this earth, growing from pop-up bar to Melbourne CBD institution.

There are 28 acts on the lineup, with notable inclusions: up-and-coming hip hop queen Sophiegrophy, UK’s Smutlee and NZ’s Blaze the Emperor.

There are claims that the “Dirty Dozen” party will be “a smorgasbord of local and international hip-hop, electronic and beat acts”, with non-stop drinks from Mornington Peninsula Brewery, Hendricks Gin, Sailor Jerry’s and Monkey Shoulder. That’s a lot of boozy fuel for a lot of celebratory dancing.

If you’ve ever been to a gig at Section 8 before, you’ll be well aware that it’s kind of a local landmark, and definitely deserves this weekend of debauchery and shenanigans as a homage to its place in the Melbourne music scene. Plus, it’s all completely free.
